Nothing screams "Happy New Year" like Christmas clearance, the sad moment at your local Starbucks when they say "We're out of gingerbread syrup" and the January Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale.
Ladies (and gents because hello to those new dapper ties) the event is here and it's time to dust off your credit card and get cozy for those wait times. This sale generally is not as popular as the August After Party Sale - simply because most of the country is bundled under blankets and not as tuned into resort wear - but that does't mean the sale isn't just as jam-packed with beautiful pieces.
I am a very blessed lady because my weekdays are spent in manhattan and my weekends are often spent in the Hamptons during the summer. Doug's family has a home "out east" (gotta get you all in the NYC lingo) and are gracious enough to let me join in on all the fun :) One of our favorite activities is to walk along Dune Road in the mornings and take in the sun and fresh air. Dune Road is the home to BEAUTIFUL properties that offer everything you think of when you think "House in the Hamptons:" pools, tennis courts, beach backyards... It's a popular location for people to ride their bikes, walk and just detach from their electronics for an hour.
Growing up, my family would often disagree on what "appropriate Thanksgiving clothing" looked like. My dad's family was more traditional and we would wear our Sunday best to dinner and I would usually be complaining about my tights itching me - classic six-year-old Emi. My mom's family was much more casual and embraced the "comfortable collection" aka we'd all show up in our "eating pants" and basically try and cram as much food in our bodies as physically possible. Maybe you have a gathering you're attending and people have different expectations on what everyone should be wearing; dressing for an occasion like this can honestly be so stressful.
Now that we've officially hit true "sweater weather" the true fun can start - says the girl that was raised in Buffalo aka the land of eight month winters. I love the diversity you can get with a sweater: from cozy and oversized to fitted and slim, there are so many different styles to try and have fun with. When I originally saw this pink sweater, I literally most my mind in JCrew because of the SLEEVES.
I don't know about you, but I love wearing white in the spring and summer months; it makes my accent jewelry pop and shows of any trace of a tan I can possibly obtain. However, one concern I always have when I wear light colors is how my teeth look - let's be real, no one ever found dull, tarnished teeth cute. Sometimes the right lipstick shade can do wonders but other times you need the power of a whitening system.
For years I used the same product and for years I had tooth sensitivity after whitening but continued doing it because I loved the way my smile looked. I mean, pain is beauty, right?
Then I stumbled across Smile Brilliant and immediately realized there was no need to be putting myself through the pain of whitening my teeth anymore.
Let's be real: walking into a drug store and staring at the wall of lipsticks is OVERWHELMING. There are so many colors, so many brands and so many promises for the "best all-day wear" which does nothing but raise my blood pressure. From glosses to stains, every company seems to have a miracle formula and is willing to do whatever it takes to make a sale and end up at the bottom of the purse.
Then I tried LipSense and was absolutely blown away by the quality. While this lip product can only be bought through a consultant, it truly lived up to all the hype I had previously heard from loyal users. They had claimed the colors were vibrant, your lips were left feeling moisturized and best of all: the color would last for over 12 hours.
