While every area of the country is different, Manhattan is currently flip-flopping with temperatures. One week it's in the 60s and the next we're cranking up the AC, as temperatures are back in the 80s. Seriously Mother Nature, don't you know we just want to bust out some camel sweaters? As a way of staying ahead of the forecast, I love looking for ways to still feel festive and feel like I'm dressing for the time of year at the same time. Cue my September staple: the suede skirt.
I am a very blessed lady because my weekdays are spent in manhattan and my weekends are often spent in the Hamptons during the summer. Doug's family has a home "out east" (gotta get you all in the NYC lingo) and are gracious enough to let me join in on all the fun :) One of our favorite activities is to walk along Dune Road in the mornings and take in the sun and fresh air. Dune Road is the home to BEAUTIFUL properties that offer everything you think of when you think "House in the Hamptons:" pools, tennis courts, beach backyards... It's a popular location for people to ride their bikes, walk and just detach from their electronics for an hour.
I don't know about you, but after spending so much time outside, my skin definitely shows some wear and tear in the coming days. No, I'm not just talking about the occasional sunburn that I get on my face and shoulders (hello, sun freckles) but I'm talking about that dry skin you feel after sitting outside on the beach or on a lawn blanket we all know too well.
Labor Day weekend is finally here and it's time to relax, kick back and celebrate the official "end of summer." If you're anything like me, this time of year is a tough one because as much as I'm ready to embrace my cozy sweaters and PSLs, I get a little bummed about packing up the bright colors and patterns of the summer months. I work in media and have had to "labor on Labor Day" for the past few years, so this year is particularly exciting, as I'm off and able to enjoy the holiday with Doug.
