Ahhh winter hair: how I hate thee. I'm not sure about you, but every year when the weather gets chillier, I begin to dread what my hair (read scalp, too) is going to look/feel like. Dry, dead ends, virtually no volume and dandruff (the enemy of a good navy sweater) seem to plague me and I often feel like I have zero hope of survival.
I have tried so many products from salon lines to something they sell in the aisles of a drug store and it truly seemed like nothing could cure my hair woes. Then I was introduced to Living Proof by a friend this summer and thought, "what do I have to lose by trying this out" and immediately I was sold. Like I am in love with how my hair looks and feels since making this switch.
I don't know about you, but after spending so much time outside, my skin definitely shows some wear and tear in the coming days. No, I'm not just talking about the occasional sunburn that I get on my face and shoulders (hello, sun freckles) but I'm talking about that dry skin you feel after sitting outside on the beach or on a lawn blanket we all know too well.
March Obsessions
I absolutely love Valentine's Day and have been known to proclaim it as my "favorite insignificant holiday." Doug and I have been dating for three years and while I like to argue my title as the reigning champion gift giver, sometimes even I can hit a little bit of a road block when it comes to Valentine's Day. With the holiday seeming to creep earlier and earlier every year (did anyone else spot the candy hearts being displayed before Christmas even happened) often times I psych myself out and find I have a little "writers block" - read "shoppers block" - when it comes to picking something out. When it comes to buying a gift for the person that means the most to you, it has to be just right. Then I stumbled on JORD watches and immediately was relieved because I found the perfect Valentine's Day gift for him!
Growing up, my family would often disagree on what "appropriate Thanksgiving clothing" looked like. My dad's family was more traditional and we would wear our Sunday best to dinner and I would usually be complaining about my tights itching me - classic six-year-old Emi. My mom's family was much more casual and embraced the "comfortable collection" aka we'd all show up in our "eating pants" and basically try and cram as much food in our bodies as physically possible. Maybe you have a gathering you're attending and people have different expectations on what everyone should be wearing; dressing for an occasion like this can honestly be so stressful.
Behold: the blanket scarf!
Now that we've officially hit true "sweater weather" the true fun can start - says the girl that was raised in Buffalo aka the land of eight month winters. I love the diversity you can get with a sweater: from cozy and oversized to fitted and slim, there are so many different styles to try and have fun with. When I originally saw this pink sweater, I literally most my mind in JCrew because of the SLEEVES.
I love French Bulldogs. A close second to my love for all things FBD (yes, Doug and I have devised an acronym because no one has time to type out that name on a daily basis) would definitely be Kate Spade. This summer, a Paris café collection was released and FBDs took the starring role as the main inspiration.

Whenever I see velvet, I immediately think "holiday" and while there's nothing wrong with that, this material is so much more diverse than given credit for. It's not only elegant, but it's insanely worm. NYC can get so chilly in the winter and having an extra layer blocking the wind never bothered anyone. I wondered "Can I take these pants and dress them down" and in challenging myself, I may have created some of my new favorite outfits.
Where in the world is Emi?

Let's be real: walking into a drug store and staring at the wall of lipsticks is OVERWHELMING. There are so many colors, so many brands and so many promises for the "best all-day wear" which does nothing but raise my blood pressure. From glosses to stains, every company seems to have a miracle formula and is willing to do whatever it takes to make a sale and end up at the bottom of the purse.
Then I tried LipSense and was absolutely blown away by the quality. While this lip product can only be bought through a consultant, it truly lived up to all the hype I had previously heard from loyal users. They had claimed the colors were vibrant, your lips were left feeling moisturized and best of all: the color would last for over 12 hours.
